Commissariat of the Holyland

For many centuries the Custody of the Holy Land has been committed to the conservation and revitalisation of the Holy Places of Christianity in the Land of Jesus and in the entire Middle East. Among the various objectives of the Franciscan mission we mention the support and development of the Christian minority that dwells in this region, the conservation and valorisation of the archaeological zones and of the sanctuaries, interventions in cases of emergency, the liturgy in the Holy Places, the apostolic works and the assistance to pilgrims. For the biennium 2022/2023 the Franciscan presence in the Holy Land has continued to manifest itself in the projection, programming and execution of the following projects and works.
